What is Supervised Visitation?
Supervised visitation refers to parenting time during which a third party is responsible for observing and ensuring the safety of the child(ren) present and providing a therapeutic approach to ensure improvement in the parent/child relationship. A visitation worker is able to provide supports feedback and interventions for families visiting while focusing on the service plan goals.
Our Visitation Workers have at minimum a Bachelor's Degree along with completed supervised visitation training. We also have Master's Level Clinicians unlicensed and licensed along with completed supervised visitation training that can provide therapeutic supervised visitation.
The visitation workers are trained by the Family & Children's Counseling Services, Inc. Supervised Visitation Training Program which includes 5.20 credit hours. The visitation worker is prepared to intervene and possibly terminate visits if significantly inappropriate behavior is observed. Inappropriate behavior that should result in termination of visits includes, but is not limited to, significantly psychotic, aggressive, or sexualized behavior, and obvious, pronounced intoxication.
The visitation worker is trained and prepared to intervene and process the situation with the parent and child when a parent is not following the guidelines and there are no present safety concerns.
Visitation worker will actively model and educate caregivers on the following areas as appropriate to address the service plan goals. To include but not limited to:
o Parental protective capacity

o Anger management/coping skills
o Meeting children’s basic needs
o Parenting skills to address boundaries and roles
